Hi,

Quick question on usage. I purchased the original 9 Hairmax laser comb a few years ago but have never used it on a regular basis. I have decided to stop using chemicals and pills and was going to just use the laser comb. Some local salons state that the comb can't be as effective as their laser hoods based on the fact that it is one laser bounced of a mirror 9 times; and if I wanted to equal the lasers 20 minute session at the salon I would have to use the comb for over 400 minutes. My question is have you change the tech since the original?

Hi Whairman -

Thank you for your post.

Three new models of the HairMax LaserComb were recently cleared by the FDA. They are the Advanced 7, the Lux 9 and the new HairMax Professional 12 beam model which contains 12 laser modules. Unlike the original design which utilized the mirror to emulate the lasers into 9 beams, all models have this new design of individual lasers. You only need to use the Professional model 3 times a week for 8 minutes each session to effectively treat your hair.

It is important to realize that the number of lasers IS NOT the determinant of successful therapy. All laser devices so matter whether they utilize a hood or are home-use devices have to emit a specific wave length of abour 655 nm to be effective.

We suggest that you read these article posted on our blog site about this subject:

Another important feature of the HairMax LaserComb is the patented teeth mechanism which enable thw laser energy to better reach the scalp. The lasers in the hood may have problems in delivering maximal energy since the hair can block the light. This is a link to information about that subject:

In conclusion, you will be receiving effective treatment with the HairMax just as you would with the hood device, but at a fraction of the cost and a much convenient device that can be used in the privacy of your home whenever you wish to use the device. Who wants to sit under a hood for 20 minutes? And who wants to pay for those sessions each time? We also have a money back guarantee that you can read about on the web site.

We hope that you will purchase the new HairMax LaserComb Professional 12 and begining the journey to successful hair regrowth.

I am confused, the 600$ I spent on the original, Why would I have to purchase a new 12 laser, if they work the same? So 4 seconds on the scalp (in each spot for a total of 15-20 minutes) is equal to a laser hood at a salon and my original 9 is good, bad or just needs to be used longer?

Hi wairman -

All models of the HairMax LaserComb put out the same laser energy. The only difference is the more lasers the model has the shorter is the recommended treatment time to cover the affected areas. We recommend treatment of 15 minutes with the Advanced 7beam, 11 minutes with the Lux 9 beam and 8 minutes with the Professional 12.

Forget all you have heard about equivalency to hooded device as far as time to application. We have proven efficacy with the above treatment times per model at each treatment session, 3 times a week.

We wish you success in your use of the HairMax LaserComb.
