Thank you for your post.
We have found that the initial shedding that may occur when you begin treatment with the HairMax should stop by 8 weeks. However, each individual responds differently, so the time will vary from individual to individual. Also, bear in mind that the hair continues to go through the normal hair cycles so you will also experience some shedding during use of the HairMax which is the natural part of the hair cycle.

I am 53 year old woman with some chemically treated hair breakage and fine thinning hair. Got the laser comb in March and I have been using it FAITHFULLY as directed since. I had an extended and seviere shedding phase at about 10 weeks until about week 18. I was so afraid of my "bald" head that I almost stopped using it but revisited the forums and saw that this shedding was a good thing...I bought some hair pieces and pressed on and I can now say that at week 24 myi hair is absolutely growing back in thicker. I still have short hair on top at part but it is improving immensly. I will keep going. Next, My son who is 27 with thinning male patterened baldness already also started using it in March. His shedding did not start until about week 16 and he is extremely balding on top BUT now the hair does seem to be filling back in on top. We are very deligent and would have liked to know how severe the shedding could be so we were not so shocked. We are optimistic people and were committed to using it for the 6 to 12 months of the study period. we will definately continue to use it and hopefully will have happy results. good luckComment

Thank you for your post and sharing your experiences and those of your son with us.
The shedding that occurs with initial use of the HairMax varies with each individual. Some people experience minimial initial shedding in the beginning of treatment and others such as yourself and your son, experience it later on and at different amounts. That is why it is impossible to exactly quantify when and if the shedding will occur and how extensive the shedding with be. Likewise, it is not possible to exactly quantify when results will start to be seen. Therefore we recommend that the HairMax be used for at least 5 months or more to judge results. Most importantly, as you have pointed out, patience is vital as is compliance to treatment instructions.
