  • Response to Viatek HairPro Gross Misrepresentations

A company called Viatek is now actively promoting their HairPro Laser and making direct comparisons to the HairMax LaserComb. We emphatically state that they are making gross misrepresentations in their comparisons and in their marketing efforts.

Firstly, Viatek has claimed on their website and print advertisement that their product and/or technology has been named as one of Time Magazine’s “Inventions of the Year” when in fact it was the HairMax LaserComb that achieved this honor. They also indicate and list in their print advertisements many of the HairMax LaserComb's media inclusions as their own. This is another fraudulent misrepresentation.

Furthermore, Viatek has produced a chart comparing the HairPro to the HairMax LaserComb. We have purchased the HairPro device and our analysis has shown that there truly is no comparison between the HairMax LaserComb and the HairPro Laser. The Hair Pro uses a weak and poorly constructed 5 mW laser module made in China. This laser module is in turn reflected through a mirror to create one extremely weak dispersed laser beam.

Viatek also contains a few low powered LED lights with numerous window openings around the bottom of their device. This example is still a confusing addition to their product as there has been no successful experience using LEDs with hair to date, except at very high power levels, which would be dangerous to the eye for consumers.

We also question Viatek’s before and after photos, as they have had them up on their website even before the product was developed or in the market. One Internet user even found these images on someone else's website.

Viatek and its owner, Lou Lentine, have a history of interesting commercial representations. We encourage anyone to do a quick Internet search on him and his previous ventures to discover other issues that they have gone through.

We have received many e-mails recently about our laser device specifications. Please appreciate that in order to receive results and efficacy from laser hair treatments you need integrated mechanism of action with an effective mechanics of delivery. These factors are far more important than a specification on paper. Specifically, you need a laser output that is ‘concentrated’ and coherency such that it produces the signature laser speckling that you see with the HairMax LaserComb. This ensures that the laser energy is ‘brilliant’ for the needed energy transfer for biostimulation even at the base of the hair follicle.

Additionally, the HairMax LaserComb contains patented hair parting teeth that allow the user to plow the hair so that the laser has an unobstructed path for the hair follicle. We believe this is a critical feature, as any device without it simply leaves hair in the way of the laser thus blocking and filtering most of the laser energy.

To date we have not seen any other device in the marketplace that comes close to the potential efficacy and results that a user would receive when using the HairMax LaserComb as directed. We have also not seen a product enter the market backed by a credible and quality centric company. Please appreciate that when you use our product or an imitator’s product you are putting a laser beam on your scalp. While this is not an inherently dangerous type of device to use, we have seen products advertised on the internet we deem dangerous for general consumer use. With this in mind, we recommend not experimenting with anything that is not manufactured following strong quality controls governed by the ISO standard.

Finally, and perhaps most importantly, if you or someone you know has used another product for the treatment of hair, please do not equate the results or lack thereof to the potential results you would have achieved while using the HairMax LaserComb. The treatment provided by the HairMax LaserComb has been clinically proven to be a highly effective and healthy way of treating problem hair.
