How is HairMax different

I have been receiving "light therapy" at my dermatologist's to help with hair regrowth which resulted from a (suspected) allergy to a colour treatment. My scalp has settled and the dermatologist is pleased with the progress of the light therapy (7 weeks).

I will be visiting family in Florida for the next ten weeks and will not have access to the light therapy at my Doctor's office. I asked the Dr. about HairMax and whether it would be a good alternative to the light therapy I've been given. He dismissed it as something different than what I was getting at his office...but would not elaborate. I just think that, if HairMax would work as well, it would be easier than trying to locate a dermatogist in my Florida location...aside from the cost incurred (I am from Canada). My Dr. has just said to return to the Light Therapy once I return home. I'm a bit worried about not doing anything at all for ten weeks, especially if I'm making progress...
Any thoughts?

The HairMax LaserComb has been proven in numerous clinical studies to be safe and effective in helping to return hair to its normal state. We assume from what you described in your post, that the device you are using in the doctors office has the same laser energy of the HairMax.

By using the HairMax in Florida that will enable you to continue to stimulate your hair until you return to receive the in-office treatment the doctor has prescribed.

We do not know what will happen to your hair if you do nothing in the interim, but from experience we know that when people are using the HairMax and they stop, their hair returns to where it was before they started treatment. We do not know if that will happen if you stop using what the doctor prescribed.

I finally found out that the light therapy I have been receiving at my dermatologist's is called "narrowband UVB". How does this differ from the HairMax and is it likely to give similar results?

Hi Katie -

The light source you are using, narrow band UVB is used to treat certain skin conditions other than hair loss.

The HairMax utilizes laser energy to treat hair loss which is completely different from the light source you are using. Therefore, the HairMax will have no effect on your skin condition.
